The Funniest Tweets About President Trump Potentially Being Dead

In an incident of mass hysteria, everyone was on their comedy A-game

By all verifiable standards of news, Donald Trump isn’t dead. There’s no major news outlet reporting that Trump is even sick. But over the weekend, everyone became obsessed with the possibility that Trump’s absence from television appearances and the public eye meant he was dead. Again, there was no concrete proof of this. But there was very circumstantial evidence. The president didn’t have an agenda for Labor Day Weekend, he went an extended period of time without appearing on the news and JD Vance was making comments that kind of made it seem like Trump was dead.

“I feel very confident the president of the United States is in good shape, is going to serve out the remainder of his term and do great things for the American people,” Vance told USA Today on August 28th.

If that’s where the statement ended, it wouldn’t have raised much suspicion. But he then added: “If, God forbid, there’s a terrible tragedy, I can’t think of better on-the-job training than what I’ve gotten over the last 200 days.”

That doesn’t sound like what a Vice President who believes in the long-term health of a 79-year-old man with chronic illnesses would say, you know? So, despite the lack of hard evidence to show that the 47th President of the United States is dead, everyone really went with it.

Here are some of the absolute best posts about Trump’s rumored passing:

The above posts don’t even fully acquiesce that Trump died. They just fantasize about the possibility that he could be, or that he “died for a little bit” but is still with us. It’s more an enjoyment of the theory, but not a full buy-in. However, some people were okay with more actively hoping for such an occurrence or imagining under which scenarios it could have actually happened.

Ultimately, Trump is set to make an announcement to the public at 2 p.m. today, and unlike the rumors, it likely won’t be a cloned body double or a CGI rendering of the president. They also definitely aren’t going to Weekend at Bernie’s the man — even if there are some funny tweets implying they will.

Let’s just hope that Trump has a very great sense of humor and won’t further punish the country for our collective and preemptive joy at his rumored demise.
